NYC has banned hoverboard use on streets and sidewalks. Recently a NYPD spokesperson confirmed that hoverboards are now considered illegal on all NYC sidewalks because they are deemed motor vehicles that can not be registered legally. Hmm.. the logical question is why can’t they be registered?
Not only are hoverboards illegal in NYC but you can also face a fine of up to $200 according to local sources.
For those hoverboarders that are just looking to cruise around for fun you can still do so in parks. Those who rely on hoverboards for a simple and easy way to travel will now have find another option.
